Still Getting Gifts?

Oh my goodness! First of all, I did not forget to write about love in February. There weren’t enough days I guess. I can’t quite explain but I will try. Adulting, while being a good excuse for so many things, catches one by surprise almost all the time you know. I don’t know how the days went by so fast. I had a plate full of responsibilities. That being the case, I will in my defense say that February isn’t the only month we love or show love, haha!

My friends and I talked about how boring it would be for us on the 14th since we didn’t have any prior plans for the day: or so they thought! They went to work and I went on a date in the morning. It was great although my date and I should just have left it in the talking stages. Never mind, the food was good, and I left with a full to-go!

I miss the days when I got flowers. I mean, I honestly like vases but think flowers are the cherry. You in fact should check out my second book cover “Broken Vase”. Do yourself a favor and get to read some of the poems I published in it. Here’s the link https://nuriakenya.com/product/broken-vase/

Going back to why I like if not love vases, I think that gifts are great, and in equal measure the gift wraps or carriers. The packaging defines how the recipient will receive their gift. The most significant part of gifting to me, is the 10 seconds you have to unwrap your gift and the feelings you have at the time. The emotional value that has is exceptional. That explains why I value vases. Unwrapping a gift feels like finding a treasure. One gets curious to see/know what the other person thought of as they got them something in their absence. Happy for you if you got some presents over Valentine’s. Lucky for you if you are still getting them. Well, I think the statement should be “Blessed are you” if you are still getting some.

Here’s a short poem I wrote during that time. My subconscious mind wrote it so I may not be in a very good position to explain how I came up with it now. Enjoy!

In some places, I left a hand

In others, I left a heart

Aight! See you at the end of this month. Let’s March on adults haha! Adulting feels like the army right? Not that I have been to one or anything, but anyway, great times!
